Bust Research
JESS RIVA COOPER
This week we will be creating a bust using any materials. This bust will represent ourselves, and for this I am thinking about using cardboard and then painting it. Before that, I want to research other artists that work creating busts to inspire myself and get to know other artists.
I have made my research and found an artist that I really identify myself with. Her name is Jess Riva Cooper. She is based on Toronto and explores drawing, installation-based artworks and clay to create her busts!

Cooper is now a teacher hand her exhibitions are around Europe and north America.
When I first look at her pieces, I found that the most relevant aspect on her work is the paintings that she makes on the sculptures. The sculptures themselves does not change a lot, but the colors and drawings make the difference in the piece, also, it gives personality to it. I can see that all of the sculptures are women and, once again, we are talking about an artist that represents nature. In my point of view, mix the human being and nature using art is inspiring, in this case, drawing leaves, insects, etc, in a sculpture.

ReplyDeleteGood choice of artist for this, have you thought about how Cooper's work will influence your work in terms of the kind of finish you are going to add to this bust?
